Thalipeeth

This is the most famous recipe that is prepared during Nagar Panchami festival in Uttara Karnataka and Maharashtra.





Ingredients :

Wheat flour
1 cup
Jowar flour
½ cup
Gram flour
½ cup
Green chilies
4-5 amount chopped
Coriander leaves
½ cup chopped
Ajwain/Oreango
½ tea spoon
Cumin seeds/Jeera
½ tea spoon
Oil
4 tea spoon
Salt
As per taste
Onion
2
Red chilly powder
1 tea spoon
Garlic
7-8 cloves

Steps :
  1. Add all the flour in a mixing bowl.
  2. Grind green chili, coriander, cumin seeds, ajwain together.
  3. Add this ground paste, salt to the flour mix.
  4. Add red chili powder, finely chopped onion – We can also add tomato if needed.
  5. Mix well and knead this to a smooth dough like chapati.
  6. Take small round balls of dough and spread them like chapatis.
  7. On a frying pan sprinkle little oil and just toast the thalipeeth as we do for chapathis.

To get the authentic taste of thalipit we can splitter some amount of water over the thalipit while toasting and cover with a lid on tava so that it gets cooked well absorbing water.
