Chocolate Sheera Barfi

My son likes chocolates a lot! he can have it non stop :) so I thought of adding chocolate coating to the usual sheera that we prepare. There is another way where we can directly add the chocolate into sheera while preparing so that the whole sheera turns to chocolate color. This barfi came out well, but the thing is my smart kido licked only the chocolate part and I had to run behind him to make him have Sheera :)

Ingredients:

Semolina/rava
2 small cups
Milk
2 cups
Ghee
2 table spoon
Cardamom powder
1/2 tea spoon
Salt
½ tea spoon
Melted Chocolate
1 small cup
Sugar
1 ½ small cup

Procedure:
1. Roast semolina in 2 table spoon of ghee on a heavy bottomed pan until its golden brown
in color and you can smell a nice aroma of it. Keep it a side.
2. Boil milk in the same pan until. Add sugar cardamom powder to it.

3. When milk starts boiling you can add roasted semolina to it. Add salt and mix well.
4. Cover the pan with a lid and allow it to cook. You can add little ghee over it again so
that it becomes more smooth and tasty.

5. In the mean while Grease the tray or a plate with ghee.
6. When sheera is cooked well, spread it on the plate. Pat this with help of spoon so that
it becomes flat.Allow this to cool down for 10 mins.

7. Spread melted chocolate over this and keep it in refrigerator for an hour.

8. You can garnish this with chopped almonds/any nuts of your choice.

Notes:
  • You can also add artificial color to sheera.
  • I melted the chocolate by heating it in low flame for few seconds. You can also do it in microwave. Make sure that you never add water for melting chocolate.
  • You can add less sugar in the Sheera at the beginning so that the sweetness of the whole dish will be balanced by chocolate layer that you add later.
  • I added cardamom as it gives nice aroma, it is optional.
  • You can add more ghee according to your need, I am a bit “kanjoos” in using ghee :)
